PhD candidate Jorge Pesantez successfully completed his graduate degree and defended his dissertation entitled “Using Smart Meter Data to Improve the Management and Operation of Water Distribution Systems.” His dissertation described new modeling approaches that take advantage of hourly water demand data reported at households to build forecasting models, improve detection of leaks, and understand infrastructure impacts during COVID-19. Jorge will be starting a postdoctoral position at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to study interconnected infrastructure systems.
