A group of CCEE professors and graduate students collaborated to write a State-of-the-Art Review paper on smart infrastructure that was recently published in ASCE’s Journal of Infrastructure Systems. The group envisioned this paper, “Smart Infrastructure: A Vision for the Role of the Civil Engineering Profession in Smart Cities” based on their research and course projects that they completed for a graduate course on smart cities that was taught by Dr. Emily Berglund. All 11 authors are from the CCEE department, and they contributed diverse expertise in water systems, geotechnical systems, construction engineering and management, solid waste management, structures, energy infrastructure, air quality, and transportation.
